Creating a Bold and Energetic Identity for a Dynamic Podcast
Overview
During this freelance project, I was tasked with creating the logo and subsequent branding for an online podcast named the “Unlimited Podcast”. After a detailed discovery session with the client, we determined that the goal was to create a bold and playful visual identity that aligned with his love for sports and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), ultimately standing out in a crowd of similar podcast channels in the space.

Custom Logotype to Match Logomark
When creating the Unlimited Podcast logo, I drew inspiration from retro comics’ bold and eye-catching linework. In addition to the logo’s primary symbolism being two U’s forming an infinity loop, I incorporated clean, thick lines and a block shadow to give it an overall playful and energetic feel. I also wanted to make sure the logo was responsive enough for any platform, so I created custom logotype that seamlessly paired with the logomark.

Flexible Content Layouts
A versatile podcast means a constant stream of different content, so designing a responsive social media content layout was important because it ensured that content would always look good and was easily recognizable across all platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. In specific mobile platform cases such as TikTok and Instagram reel content, making sure no information was obstructed by any UI elements was that extra step which improved the podcast’s overall content accessibility.
Lessons Learned
🧡 Designing with Empathy
Much like any other small business, podcasts are deeply personal labors of love, so I needed to approach the design process with empathy. By putting myself in the shoes of the business owner, I learned how important it is to strike a balance between creating a visual identity that is aesthetically pleasing and reflective of the client’s personality, while also being truly respondent to the needs and values of the business.
🧰 Accessibility From All Angles
In order to create a strong visual identity that lasts, it’s incredibly important to not only design with user accessibility in mind, but also that of the client. When designing content for the podcast, I learned that its structure should both be easily digestible for any audience, as well as intuitive to use for the client when iterating and creating new forms of content. A sense of familiarity and ease of use for the audience/client fosters good brand recognition and natural growth well into the future.
